IM MAD :

Yesterday my Ipad had an update. I did everything as usual when these update show on my ipad.

Problem: In entering a new passcode with this update I just entered all "xxx's" in the field --- I didn't count how many-

I just filled in the number of spaces and assumed (not smart) that when asked for my password again that it would be the same and I would just fill in all X's. Unfortunately it didn't show the number of spaces 😟 If there is ANYONE who KNOWS how many spaces in the PASSWORD CODE, PLEASE TELL ME 🙂

I'm 60 years old and not the sharpest CRAYON in the BOX anymore 😟 Right now my Ipad is locked up and the only solution that Apple has is for me to erase everything on my Ipad and start over 😟 I've had my Ipad for approximately 3yrs and I really would cry if I have to erase my entire Ipad 😟
I sincerely appreciate anybody's help.....PLEASE

Hi

When you charge an iPad it should have been backed up to iCloud over your WiFi

So your apps/ photos should be safe.

Just follow this if you have problems get someone to help you

Or make an appointment at apple store take proof of purchase .

If you have a upto date pc go to itunes check for updates it needs to be 12.5.2

Turn ipad off connect lead to usb on your PC

Press & hold just the power button on ipad don,t let go

Connect lead to ipad keep power button pressed down until PC sees ipad

Then wait for restore

If this works when setting ipad backup it will ask if you want to use iCloud backup

Click yes & use same apple ID & password

Pick a passcode you remember six digits like you date month year of birth.

Good Luck

Cheers

Although that is easy to remember, it is an extremely bad idea as it is far too easy to guess or hack into. A password should always be a string of letters/numbers/symbols that make no sense or possibly a complete part of a very long sentence - anything but personal information.

I have just now seen your reply and I'm going to give this a try! I will let you know if it works! I truly do appreciate your help.

I will let you know if I'm able to save my all my information. I do backup to ITunes & ICloud- hopefully everything will be there and if not then I will have learned a very valuable lesson. Oh, and also have learned that its ok to not be the "sharpest crayon in the box" with my computer fixing knowledge because there are really nice people like you who are willing to take the time to help me.

Thank You So Very Much
